A Bellwether Course

Join us at Vowley Farm, Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, for four mornings of woolly fun! We will be starting with a fleece from one of our sheep, and going through the processes to turn it into yarn.

This is one of our Bellwether courses. A bellwether is a sheep who leads the flock, and in these courses we are led through the creative process by one of our own sheep. The Bellwether for this course is Dash, one of the two biggest sheep in the flock. Dash will be providing his fleece for us to use, and as we get to know him he will be inspiring us to create a yarn which fully expresses his personality.

The course will run for four Tuesday mornings, 10am-1.30pm. Dates are 19th and 26th January, 2nd and 9th February.

  • 19th January - Fleece and what to do with it
  • 26th January - Untangling; carding and combing
  • 2nd February - Spinning A Yarn
  • 9th February - Double Time: plying your yarn and finishing it

Materials and tools will be provided. Please bring an apron, wellies and a warm coat. Plentiful tea and cakes are included in the price!

6 places available.

Price £140 (for all 4 sessions)
